Lammertal Valley lies right at the foot of the Tennengebirge and, with its numerous clearly marked hiking paths, is an ideal base for many different hikes and high-alpine adventures.

Many of the huts and hill farms in St. Martin invite you to stop in during or after your hike for a so-called “Jause”: With a platter of homemade cheese, bacon, bread and butter on the table in front of you, you will be able to reenergize and mull over the beautiful day you have just spent amid our magical mountain landscapes.
Autumn, especially, is the ideal time to go hiking. The air is pure and clean, and the views from the mountain you have just “conquered” are more than ample reward for the efforts that went into the hike up.
A golden autumn in St. Martin am Tennengebirge also attracts guests with many special events, including a Harvest Festival processions, an Almroas – a community hike from hut to hut punctuated by authentic folk music, farm festivals and much more.

Hiking Tips in St. Martin am Tennengebirge
Together with our certified mountain & hiking guides Bruno Verhoeven and Manfred Höll, you will hike from Lammertal to the tallest trees in Austria, growing in the Lammertal Virgin Forest. After visiting the nature reserve, you will then continue to the Spiessalm, where you will be greeted by the homemade specialties of your hut host, Marianne. The hike takes place every Thursday at 10 a.m.

One highlight for hikers – and especially for families with children – is our "Schnaufi-Express".
The "Schnaufi-Express" road-train will take you every Tuesday up to the Karalm, and every Thursday to the Schöberlalm.
With your St. Martin guest card, the ride costs just € 5 per person. You will quickly see that this ride with "Schnaufi" is sure to be a special experience!
The hiking bus runs on the route via Gosausee, Russbach, Abtenau, Annaberg-Lungötz, St. Martin am Tennengebirge and return.
